How you can get a professional, elegant, and customizable website that fits your unique brand.
Meeting your significant other’s parents for the first time can be downright terrifying. Typical scenarios include sweaty palms, fumbling over words, and generally trying not to act too weird. Your goal: to impress. Nothing more, nothing less.
Lucky for you, the strangers you’ll meet today are quite the opposite. They are here to impress you. Who are these mystery guests? Presets, of course! Did you know that within your Zenfolio account, you have the ability to instantly apply a ready-made theme and layout across your entire site with just one click? If you’ve run your creative juices dry during your photography sessions, don’t fret; presets are just what you need.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to a few. Let’s dive in and meet our first preset.
Full-screen layouts and a dark color scheme help make your images shine rather than competing with them. Simple typography complements the design and lends a modern edge. And because of the neutral colors of this preset, any logo will blend seamlessly with the design.
Hestia is humble, supportive and works well with just about any style of photography.
Cool mint and charcoal gray set the scene in this preset, lending an air of sophistication to your photos. Your homepage offers a unique place for you to welcome your guests and introduce yourself. Dynamic grids on gallery pages offer a delightful viewing experience for all.
Vesta has a simple elegance that aims to elevate your photography. Be forewarned: you may feel like partaking in afternoon tea and cucumber sandwiches shortly after applying this preset to your website.
A dynamic grid on your homepage is a great way to showcase multiple images from your portfolio, while a side bar is the perfect place for your logo and menu items. Not a fan of pink? No problem. You can easily change the color of a preset after you’ve applied it if it’s not your jam.
Bright and colorful, Fauna lends a playful vibe to any photographer’s website. Your site will be ready for summer in no time.
Applying a Site Preset
You can apply a preset to your entire Zenfolio site, or a single page. It’s generally a best practice to apply a consistent look and feel throughout. Here are the steps you can take to do this:
- Log in to your Zenfolio account and then hover your mouse over My Zenfolio.
- Click on Customize Visitor View from the menu.
- Click Site Preset to display the Site Preset selections.
- In the new window that appears, view your Site Preset options as Large Preview or Thumbnails by clicking on the square icons. We will use Thumbnails for this example.
- Click View Sample to see a working website with the Site Preset applied.
- Once you have selected the Site Preset that you want, click Apply.
- A warning pop-up window will appear to confirm that you wish to apply the changes. Click Continue. Repeat steps 1-6 until you are satisfied.
- Click Publish to save your changes.
Modifying a Preset
Zenfolio offers more than 40 preset designs that give your website a polished look; however, you may want to add some final finishing touches that really speak to your brand. The good news is, after applying a preset you can further customize your site by choosing different layouts, themes and options for your various pages.
Let’s Get Started
Applying presets can become quite addicting, as it’s such a quick way to test out several personalities and see which one works best for you… speed dating anyone?
You may be wondering if your customers are going to be seeing all of these changes occurring on your site. Thanks to an awesome feature called Customize, then Publish, any changes you make in the Customize Visitor View mode will be invisible to your viewers until you hit Publish. Additionally, your previous settings are saved and can be restored.
So, what are you waiting for? Let the Zenfolio presets impress you.
