How one photographer tripled her client bookings

Remember when you got your first camera? That’s Amada Deyo’s story too. She got hers in high school and loved using it to photograph friends and family. And while Amanda became a medical biller, her passion for making memories didn’t stop and she kept photographing people as a side hustle. Recently she left that “not-so-fun” job to pursue her dream as a full-time photographer. Soon thereafter, she also welcomed her daughter, Dahlia into the world.
Needless to say, raising two “babies” at once can be very hectic. Amanda spoke to us about how Zenfolio helps her juggle schedules, clients, and getting paid.
How long have you been a Zenfolio user? What features do you find you can’t live without? I’ve been using Zenfolio for three years. I love the BookMe feature. I was using another site for my scheduling but this makes it easy to have everything right in one place for myself, as well as clients. I also like that it includes Stripe so clients can pay me for deposits and full sessions. I was using PayPal and Venmo before, but this is so much easier. I also love Zenfolio’s proofing and client gallery options. Clients can easily save and access their galleries and it simplifies my workflow.
How has BookMe helped you streamline your bookings? I’m a new mom and life gets crazy! BookMe has been a game-changer. My main form of contact is through Facebook and sometimes it takes me a while to get to clients. Clients can now access BookMe on my website and get all the information they need to book me themselves, without having to ask me when I’m available.
Did you know you booked 52 new client bookings in less than a month!? I didn’t. It wouldn’t be possible without BookMe. I save SO much time, probably an hour a day between messaging and figuring out times, collecting payments, and picking places to take photos.
Tell us about your “milestone and mini sessions” you’ve been booking and reserving. How do you market them? I’ve always done milestones, but they’ve become more popular recently. This past year I started offering different monthly themed mini sessions. I usually do these based on the holiday or season we’re in and they’ve been very successful! So being able to book on BookMe has been a lifesaver.
What would you tell other photographers about Zenfolio and the BookMe tool? I’d tell them to start using this product. It’s rare to find a website that has client galleries, selling, and a client booking and scheduling tool that takes payments all in one.
