How one photographer uses BookMe to save time and grow her business.
July 10th, 2020Mary Powell, a Zenfolio photographer, and owner of Mary Powell Photography has spent the last 15 years specializing in and perfecting her passion for real estate photography in Atlanta, GA. For the past few years, Mary has found herself increasingly playing phone, text, and email tag with clients who were trying to book photo sessions and schedule meetings. So she started searching for a better way.
BookMe, Zenfolio’s client booking, scheduling, and payment tool, provided Mary with an all-in-one solution to streamline this process and gave her more time to do what she loves – photographing real estate and interiors.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey to becoming a photographer:
I’ve been doing real estate photography for 15 years now. I remember my first “gig” was for a realtor friend of mine and I used my husband’s 24mm Tilt-Shift lens. I became instantly hooked and realized I had a passion for architecture and interiors. I haven’t stopped since.
How has BookMe helped you?
I’ve been using Zenfolio since 2013 and I think the new BookMe tool is a great add-on for my Zenfolio website. I’d already been doing research and looking for other companies that provide an online booking solution so when I heard about Zenfolio offering this tool I was excited. With BookMe, clients are able to see which days I’m available so they can book an appointment themselves without having to call or text me. It’s been a real time-saver! Not to mention, it helps me avoid double-bookings, which have happened to me in the past when I’ve forgotten to write down an appointment.
Has BookMe saved you time or helped you with your client communication?
Absolutely! Saves phones calls and/or texts back and forth. Plus clients get a notification of the appointment right away without me having to take the time to prepare an email and send it out when I get a chance.
Has BookMe helped you with client scheduling?
Yes, my biggest client usually has multiple listings for me to photograph each week, and scheduling these can be a challenge. Using BookMe has helped streamline the booking and payment process and my client and I both get notifications right away and that helps keep all my photoshoots organized and makes it less confusing for sure.
What would you tell other photographers about Zenfolio and the BookMe tool?
I would say that it is a great feature, especially since you don’t have to go through another company and it can all be managed right through your Zenfolio website!

About Mary:
I was born and raised in Panama City, Panama and I moved to Miami, FL at the age of 16 where I finished high school and graduated from Miami Coral Park High. I’ve lived in Atlanta, GA since 1987. Before pursuing a career in photography, I worked for a Fortune 500 company in technology and computer training. I always had an interest in photography and once I quit the corporate world I had the time to hone down my photography skills. I began taking classes, reading, and absorbing everything “photography”. I have been doing Real Estate Photography for 15 years now. My first official “gig” was when a real estate agent/friend hired me to take photos of one of his listings. I borrowed my husband’s Canon 24mm Tilt-Shift lens and I was immediately hooked. I quickly discovered my love for photographing architecture and interiors and have been doing it ever since. While I mostly photograph real estate, I also work with builders, interior designers, and some commercial work.
